WhatsApp in the portal

Use the business portal to connect a WhatsApp Business account and run day-to-day messaging. Automate the same channel from your software with the WhatsApp Public API.

Flows ≠ Automations

The Flows tab is Meta’s interactive forms product. Engagive Automations are a separate canvas module that can also send WhatsApp messages.

Who this is for

  • Operators managing WhatsApp in the portal
  • Developers who need portal setup before REST calls

Before you start

  1. Sign in at https://app.engagivestudio.com
  2. Open Channels → WhatsApp and select or connect an account (Embedded Signup / Meta as offered in your environment)
  3. For API work, follow Portal setup & credentials

Account tabs (how-to)

Inside a WhatsApp account you typically see these areas (names can vary slightly by role):

  • Details

Account status, phone number, Meta connection, and HTTP API tab (account id + public URLs).

Tip: Create a bearer token on Profile before calling the Public API.

  • Contacts

Browse and import contacts for this WhatsApp account.

Tip: Bulk import and contact APIs are also in Public API → Contacts.

  • Chats

Agent inbox for open conversations; send text inside the customer-care window.

Tip: Outside the 24-hour window you must send an approved template.

  • Templates

Create templates and language contents; submit to Meta for approval.

Tip: REST create/update/submit: Public API → Templates & Template contents.

  • Flows

Meta WhatsApp Flows (interactive forms) — design, preview, publish.

Tip: Not Engagive Automations. Public API → Flows for REST.

  • Campaigns

Bulk template sends to an audience; track lifecycle and reporting.

Tip: Public API → Campaigns for file audience create and lifecycle actions.

  • Insights / Usage

Account-level messaging insights and usage against your plan.

Tip: Business-wide billing is under portal Billing (owner).
